MRI

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a noninvasive imaging test that helps physicians diagnose and treat medical conditions with the use of a large magnetic scanner.

Fredonia Regional’s MRI scanner is a mobile unit that comes two days per week from Coffey County Hospital in Burlington, Kansas. Our scanner uses a powerful magnetic field, radio frequency pulses and a computer to produce detailed pictures of organs, soft tissues, bone and virtually all other internal body structures which cannot be seen as well with another imaging modality such as CT. The images can then be examined on a computer monitor, transmitted electronically, and copied to a CD. MRI does not use ionizing radiation or x-rays.
